Ditching the crib and the binky was a much harder sell for Lucy than it was for Tommy. Tommy moved himself into his toddler bed upon turning two and was forced to give up the binky because he was chewing holes in them. Lucy was perfectly happy in the cocoon of her crib and only used her pacifier for sleeping and obediently surrendered it upon waking. But, with the dentist's orders to ditch the binky and with eyes looking forward to attempting potty training this summer, we decided it was best to just change everything at once. If she's going to need to develop a new sleep routine, we may as well do everything at once.
To give her some incentive to make these big changes, we really played up the Big Girl Bed and all the glory that could come with it. We had planned on moving her to the toddler bed Tommy used, taking the crib apart, and storing the crib away for use as her head/footboard later on. But after taking one side off the crib, Tom noted that we could just use that as the toddler bed. Oh yeah... So out went Tommy's old toddler bed and we got Lucy set up in her modified crib. She requested ballerina bedding and after a fruitless shopping trip (all we found were princesses, Tinkerbell, and Minnie Mouse...) the perfect bedding was found online and ordered! A weekend trip to Ikea produced a new carpet (she also requested pink), a small table and a couple of chairs. Now we've managed to create her own special place for her.
The first two nights went reasonably well. (The gate on her bedroom door sure helps!) Naps have been less successful without the pacifier, but she's been sleeping very well at night with minimal drama there. So far so good...
Here are the pictures of her room!

I love both the bedding and the rug! You're going to have to let me know where you got those!
