Happy Birthday Dada!

What a busy day! While I missed all the birthday festivities due to a Kindergarten Open House and a dress rehearsal at school, Tom had quite a birthday. He chaperoned Tommy's class field trip to the pumpkin patch and even went on a hay ride! Then he and the kids had dinner with Nana and Jennifer and got some ice cream. As a birthday gift, here are some cute kid pics from this week!

Halfway to Five

On the occasion of the big 4.5, here are some recent Tommy adventures.  With all the recent talk around here about Kindergarten, four and a half is pretty exciting as it just means we're closer to 5, when things get real! (as far as Tommy's concerned)

The boys recently visited Land's End and the Sutro Baths.  They were supposed to also see the Blue Angels, but as you can see from the backdrop, the Angels did not fly that afternoon.

oops, come back Blue Angels.  The sun came out right after you cancelled your show!

Today at the zoo, Tommy threw a coin in the fountain and made a wish.  He told me he wished that he could have his own iPad for his birthday.  HA!  Here is his playing Presidents vs Aliens

Here he told me he was going to write out some math problems.  This is what he came up with!  On a daily basis, this kid blows me away and cracks me up.

Friday night we enjoyed the Halloween carnival at his school.  This is not his real Halloween costume, we didn't want to spoil that one, so here's his stand-by costume.

Here he and his friend Sam represent Star Wars.  I said, "Sam, you're Luke Skywalker!"  he said "No, I'm a rebel pilot!"  I can see why he and Tommy are friends.  Sticklers...

Add one Green Lantern, Benjamin

The penguin is Shen.  Shen and Tommy share the same birthday except Shen is one year older (...and one foot taller).

And welcome to the newest members of our household.  Tommy won two goldfish at the carnival so we picked them up at the pet store.  Tommy picked out their names:  John and Gerald.  (He denies that they are named after Kennedy and Ford but he did have his presidents book open when I asked him what he wanted to name the fish)

We went to the zoo today with Lucy.  But here are some big Tommy pics.

Tom (precise age unavailable, but Tom zoomed in, identified the Giants shirt he was wearing and estimates it to be either the 1987 or 1989 season, so about 7-9 years old).

Happy Half Birthday Tommy!

Ladybug Girl

A Halloween preview: Lucy will be Ladybug Girl, our new favorite heroine with her own book series.

I think our Lucy can pull off Lulu the Ladybug Girl's signature look

(Giants tee and blue leggings not part of the costume)

Saturday in the Park

If it's Saturday, it must be soccer. I met up with Ted, Meredith, Lucy and Papa Tom to watch Tommy play soccer. It was a beautiful morning.

Papa Tom watching the action.

Getting ready for his shot.

Lucy was much more concerned with her flip flops...

And Tommy's flip flops. She was sing songing "Tommy's flip flops. Tommy's flip flops". And she tried to give them to him at each water break.

Hi-fives!

See you next week.

Playing Hooky

I had the day off today so Tommy ditched school and Lucy ditched swimming and off we went to the Children's Discovery Museum and a brief drive by (potty break) to SCU.

This is a cool picture!

This giant smock she's wearing did nothing to keep her dry.  She came out soaking wet.  But it was a really hot day so no bother.

Dancing in a dark room with disco lights and a mirror.

Flashback: June 2007 - 1 1/2 months old

Her SCU stage debut.  It's hard to see, but she's on stage in Mayer Theatre with the Ghost Light singing "Twinkle Twinkle."  Our lighting designer said to start saving my money.

There was a goofy face epidemic during our photo shoot but I didn't push it.  We'd had a long, very successful day and I just wanted to get on the road with no tears!
