Blog milestone

We did not start this blog until about 20 days before Tommy's first birthday. So as we've gone through Lucy's first year, we have blogged about things we didn't get to with Tommy. Now we've reached the landmark where both are equal in the blog world. A silly milestone, I know. But how funny to look back at what Tommy was doing at this age and what we were thinking/feeling too!

Tommy was a bit more active than Lucy what with the crawling and growing of teeth that she seems so resistant toward. He was speaking more clearly and knew a few more words, but I don't think she will be far behind in this department for long! Lucy will be done with formula in the next couple of days (and our budget will be too!!!) but she is still drinking her milk out of a bottle. Tommy took to a sippy cup really well and, typical of a second kid, Lucy is getting fewer opportunities to practice. I haven't measured her in a while, but I predict she will be quite a bit shorter than he was at this age.

Tommy was a sweet kid, but Lucy is adorably sweet to almost everyone she meets. She likes to clap (her first word besides Dada & Mama). She has a royal wave and uses it everywhere and for everyone. She has been more discerning lately and has developed a "stink face" (that's enough for a separate post!) but most who meet her ultimately describe her as an incredibly well-mannered and friendly baby. She is almost never fussy and complains very little. She is no pushover, however, and has begun to give her brother a little push out of the way when he horns in on her toys or territory. We did her 1-year photos today along with Christmas photos. She was adorable and a perfect model for her solo shots but became difficult when her brother came on the scene. This peanut will be able to hold her own!

Here's the funniest picture we got today - and a teaser for their Christmas/Birthday pictures to come in the next few weeks. This one cracked us all up and most accurately represents the day-to-day family fun of having a sibling! (and what they really must think about the adults off camera encouraging them to smile)

Thanksgiving 2010

Lucy had a wonderful First Thanksgiving at Nana's house, having celebrated her first Fake Thanksgiving at Marco's house a few weeks previous.

Mastering her kissy face
A pre-dinner nap was well timed!
Gemma was on hand to do a little 21st century babysitting
In fairness, she also read a few books and played with a lot of toys!

Lucy's first feast included corn, green beans, sweet potatoes, stuffing, turkey, apple and pumpkin pies

Tommy actually ate well too! (I believe his first Thanksgiving, he was still on purees)Actually, here's a side by side comparison of Tommy and Lucy's first Thanksgivings.

(no whipped cream was actually sprayed in either child's mouth, for those who may be concerned)

As usual, no pictures managed to be taken of Nana or Tom who did the bulk of the kitchen work on the big day. It was delicious and we all had a great time!

Ah! Nana had a picture of Tom after all! Happy Thanksgiving!

Welcome to California, Papa Tom & Arlo!

We ventured down to good old Santa Clara this Sunday to finally visit Papa Tom in his new place! We are very glad to have him back in California and we were happy to meet Arlo!

Check out this simply gorgeous picture Papa Tom got of Lucy! It took several tries since she loves to blink at the red light! But worth the effort for a shot of those blue eyes!

When Tommy's Away...

And the debut of Lucy's first baby dolly, which I am currently naming "Diaper Bag Dolly" (anticipating a dolly in every location pretty soon...)

11 months old

See, she owns a pink shirt.... and she wore it to the Bruce Mahoney game!
Family fun in a diaper box

Cheese faces

That's a size 6 month onesie fitting just fine in this 11 month photo

Well at 11 months Lucy is taking her sweet time with things like teeth and crawling. In fact, she's just not doing them at all! But she's moved on and is starting to pull herself up to her knees. She also likes standing up if you help her there.
It helps to have something entertaining for her to look at while she's standing

Birthday countdown is on!

Cleaning off the camera phone again:

Fist pumpin' at Grandma's house

In case that last pic was too cool for you... Marco and Tommy play light sabers and take turns with the helmet (in their jammies)
