Tommy was a bit more active than Lucy what with the crawling and growing of teeth that she seems so resistant toward. He was speaking more clearly and knew a few more words, but I don't think she will be far behind in this department for long! Lucy will be done with formula in the next couple of days (and our budget will be too!!!) but she is still drinking her milk out of a bottle. Tommy took to a sippy cup really well and, typical of a second kid, Lucy is getting fewer opportunities to practice. I haven't measured her in a while, but I predict she will be quite a bit shorter than he was at this age.
Tommy was a sweet kid, but Lucy is adorably sweet to almost everyone she meets. She likes to clap (her first word besides Dada & Mama). She has a royal wave and uses it everywhere and for everyone. She has been more discerning lately and has developed a "stink face" (that's enough for a separate post!) but most who meet her ultimately describe her as an incredibly well-mannered and friendly baby. She is almost never fussy and complains very little. She is no pushover, however, and has begun to give her brother a little push out of the way when he horns in on her toys or territory. We did her 1-year photos today along with Christmas photos. She was adorable and a perfect model for her solo shots but became difficult when her brother came on the scene. This peanut will be able to hold her own!
Here's the funniest picture we got today - and a teaser for their Christmas/Birthday pictures to come in the next few weeks. This one cracked us all up and most accurately represents the day-to-day family fun of having a sibling! (and what they really must think about the adults off camera encouraging them to smile)
