Aunt Jen takes a day off to go to the Splashy Museum.

I took Friday off and went with Meredith, Tommy and Lucy to the Splashy Museum aka the Discovery Museum.

Growing & Grinning

At 6 weeks old Lucy is starting to pack on the chunk. Leg rolls and general flab are coming in nicely. She weighed in at 9lbs 12oz on Wednesday and is ready to rock her new cloth diapers! I even took some newborn sized clothes out of her dresser. Anybody need them?
And though she's been smiling for a week or two, she's been reserving them for her daddy and being stingy with me (foreshadowing...) But thanks to some tickling and a new camera phone that takes multiple pictures in sequence, I scored these cheeky grins.

Cookies

What else to do on a rainy Sunday? Bake cookies!
I haven't made cookies from scratch since I was a kid - after that all my cookie memories involve tubes of cookie dough (yum). Anyway, here's Tommy helping me bake cookies.

(He loves the apron "Grandma" Callaghan! He did keep asking us, "Do you like my pretty dress?")


At least they have each other... The dogs are neglected on this blog! Cali and Finn are responding well to the new baby. Tom does an incredible job getting them out every day even in the rain and mud. Both are now terribly afraid of Fort Funston because of the Lake Merced shooting range, so the muddy Stern Grove is the only option.

Happy Birthday Marco!

Today was Marco's 2nd birthday and he hosted a rocking (and crowded!) fiesta! Here are some videos of the cousins trying out Marco's new rotisserie grill and some new recipes including BBQed watermelon, BBQed lettuce, and BBQed plastic plate.

Finally, a month later we can compare Lucy to my newborn pics since she's hit 9 lbs. A bit hard to see, we'll get better pics of both Tom and me for a fun comparison game!

Since everyone's so big on comparisons right now :) Here's Tommy's 1 month with Spiderman:
(he was 4 oz lighter but a 1/2 in longer by the doctor's measurements, clearly his length was more in his legs than hers but neither is destined for height! Skintone and hairline are the most obvious differences.)

Further Adventures

Lucy started off the week with her 1st Sharks game. Unfortunately the Red Wings prevailed (Tom clapped quietly), but no worries as Lucy had no clue she was even there. Chalk it up to the list of events she's seen through closed eye lids in her 4 weeks of life!



Joey's 4th birthday party was the next morning and we all made pizza. Thanks to Papa for dragging Tommy out of his grumpy funk with his "Smiley Santa" pizza complete with "Hot dogs" (aka sausage) and "Black grapes" (aka olives). Tommy fell for the hot dog bit, but came nowhere close to eating the olives.

On Monday Tommy had his first official gymnastics class. We'd tried it out once in August but now we're officially signed up. It took a full 20 minutes for him to decide to get off my lap and participate (I could have used Papa and some pizza!) but when he did he was all over the obstacle courses and well into the frequent breaks they take to the water fountain. In fact, when Tom asked Tommy what he did that day he said, "I drank water and got wet." No mention of the activities shown below. Fun fact: this is the same gym where Tom took gymnastics in his youth. It helps it's only a half block from Nana's as she can come along or watch Lucy while Tommy gets physical.



Tuesday took us to Coyote Point Museum, where I hadn't been. He liked the otters and some of these science activities. We've been watching "Sid the Science Kid" on PBS in the mornings (very cute) and now Tommy fancies himself a scientist who likes to explore and discover.

and he put all these gears together so they would all turn (with help). Puzzles are also very big in our house right now.

Wednesday we surprised G-ma and visited 3-B.


Today was an injury-free trip to the library (phew!) and tomorrow is Lucy's 1 month check up. Details to come. At least I'm managing to keep busy.

A chilly trip to the playground this week. I realize where some of our readers live it's actually cold and snowy. Please excuse our snow gear for a mere chilly evening on the coast. Please also excuse Tommy's size 12mos jacket! He got that as a gift for his first Christmas! Thanks Children's Place again for your ridiculously incorrect sizing. I guess we'll need a new jacket next year.





And here's our new stroller which I like a lot so far. Tommy likes to stand and watch, but he's also good about sitting on his seat or walking alongside and holding on. Perfect!
We had a 3 hour power outage last night. Hooray for Tom's DeWalt flashlight which, shined at the ceiling, totally illuminates our living room. Tommy learned how to play CandyLand (shockingly he won!)
Then we watched Cars on my laptop. We were really roughing it in our household.
