Inspired

Tommy has never been much of a visual artist.  He has never really been interested in drawing or coloring for fun.  If he does have crayons in hand, he usually uses them as props or substitutes for characters and recreates songs or scenes.  In the past few months at school, his coloring has just now got to a point where he acknowledges the presence of lines and the possibility that more than one color could be used on a page.

So when he came home with some doodles recently, ones that depicted people or actual scenes rather than  just geometric "scribble scrabble," as one of his classmates called his work, we were very surprised.

Surprised by the quality but not by the content!

These first two are clearly representations of the famous scene from Return of the Jedi depicting Jabba the Hut (green in the first pic) and Han Solo frozen in carbonite (blue)

Showing some range, this is the scene from Episode 1: The Phantom Menace where Darth Maul and his double light saber fight Obi Wan (blue) and Qui-Gon Jinn (green)

Straying from his original inspiration, here are two family portraits.  In the second, I'm told we are all colored red to show the blood flowing through our bodies.
