I missed Tommy's last beginning swim lesson yesterday thanks to my hospital detour, but here is Grandma's full report. We didn't go into much detail on this blog regarding the drama that was the first few weeks of swim lessons, but trust me when I say, "You've come a long way, baby!"
From Grandma:
Tommy was great at swimming lessons yesterday and 'graduated' from Cuttlefish with a flourish!
Although we have no photographic verification, you can take my unbiased word that he:
--Walked into the pool by himself down the middle of the ramp...no guardrails...until the water was under his chin.
--Blew bubbles several times on his own volition.
--Stood up on a surfboard in the water with other kids while the teachers held the board in place.
--Walked the length of the surfboard while the teachers held the board in place...and then jumped off the end into my arms.
--Held onto the side of the pool alone for a considerable amount of time and brought himself down to touch bottom a few times--even though the water went above his nose but under his eyeballs.
--Chased two of his teachers with the alligator puppet while initiating and singing the Alligator song on his own...and caught them! (Gma assisted.)
--Walked out of the pool by himself from around the corner of the ramp all the way to the top of the stairs.
--Gave me almost as much trouble getting him OUT of the pool as he had given me getting him into the pool eight weeks ago!! (--Grossly exaggerated when you consider how much trouble he gave me getting into the pool!)
At any rate, the lessons were a huge success with the courage and cooperation of Tommy, and the assistance of ALL involved...far exceeding expectations! Thanks to everyone.
Thanks to Grandma. Next week Tommy moves from Cuttlefish to Penguin for the next round of lessons.
