Ever since receiving his USA Floor Puzzle for his birthday, Tommy has been way into the 50 states. If you haven't witnessed it, it's quite a spectacle to behold. Tommy now has all of the states memorized and can identify them on any map. Papa isn't teaching summer school this year so he and Grandama have set up a little classroom in their hallway for studious grandchildren.
Grandama also has a lot of new learning tools around the house after cleaning out her classroom. Here they are in astronaut helmets assembling the planet puzzle.

After a trip to the Farmer's Market, Tommy explores the Pacific Ocean.
They ran into Luke, who's daddy grew up on our street.

(Grandma and Papa set up the map so that THEY could learn to recognize the 50 states so as not to be embarrassed by preschoolers.) This was part of the planet puzzle dialogue. "That's the sun, ouch.. .ssssstt!" "Actually, that's Jupiter. See, J-U-P-I..." "No, Grandma, that's the sun!!" "No, that is Jupiter..." "No, Grandma, that's the sun!!!" "Listen to me, Tommy. Grandma was wrong when she told you that it was the sun. It just looks like the sun because of all the warm colors. The sun is this yellow thing down in the corner." "Oh, --that's Jupiter."
