We did finally get our tree today so we will get around to digging the Christmas decorations out from under the house one of these days. Santa will be visiting Tommy's school this week so the festivities continue.

Early Christmas Festivities
While we've barely got Christmassy at our own house yet, the kids have already helped both grandmothers decorate their trees and houses and have already visited with Santa at the mall and at his annual trip to SI.
We did finally get our tree today so we will get around to digging the Christmas decorations out from under the house one of these days. Santa will be visiting Tommy's school this week so the festivities continue.

New School Building Opens
After months of anticipation and false starts, Tommy's preschool moved into a brand new building today. They just had the final inspection yesterday and we all got calls last night saying today was the day to move to the new campus! It's a few minutes farther away from our house just across the Colma border, but it is gorgeous and huge and wonderful looking. Their old building was just that. They'd been there over 25 years and the building was showing age. Everything here is brand new and they have a huge amount of space. It's part of a family housing complex so there will be new kids who live in the building joining the school as well.

Checking out the sinks with automatic on/off. He was notably less excited about the Dyson airblade.
After this, I was too excited and stopped taking pictures but the classrooms are going to be great once everything is unpacked and settled. We are so excited for Tommy (and eventually Lucy) to get to enjoy this wonderful school building!
We also had our first official Parent/Teacher conference and all is well. Notably, Tommy is good at paying attention, likes to sit up front in the same spot, and insists on putting things away where he found them.

We are all about Toy Story in our house right now, but only Toy Story 1 as (even though he has seen both 2 & 3 multiple times) there are portions of the other two that seem to bother Tommy to the point where we cannot watch them. So we watch Toy Story 1 a lot and Tommy has now taken to dramatic recreations of scenes from the film.
Once I accidentally destroyed a painstakingly recreated room-sized diorama of the "toys coming out" scene when they toys scare Sid straight. I just thought it was a mess. Tommy had a very clear picture of where each toy needed to be for the big reveal.

As you can see, since all his knowledge comes from hearing the words it all sounds right, but it's not quite the right words. I believe Mr. Potato Head does not call Hamm a "kosher swine," though it cracks me up that Tommy says that and "Cipasso."
He also recreates the Staff Meeting scene (starts at 6:40 here)
Here he talks about last Tuesday's Plastic Corrosion Awareness Meeting but for some reason decides it was a big mistake instead of a big success. But thanks Mr. Spell regardless.
He's totally onto me with the video camera and tends to not want to perform when he knows I'm recording. But I had to get these preserved!

It's My Party!
Lucy celebrated her birthday a little early with a party this weekend. We crammed a lot of people into our house on this rainy Sunday and we all had a great time!
Here's the view of the birthday girl that early arriving guests got. Still in her pajamas and sacked out in the high chair - ready to party!
All dressed now and ready to go!
Guests traveled from far and wide (ok some guests walked) but Aunt Lesley wins with farthest traveled!
We occupied the kids with cupcake decorating. While Tommy and Joey opted for the quick frosting and quick eat method, the ladies took a little more care in their design and execution. All 3 of the big girls designing elaborate and unique cupcakes - which each then apparently deemed too beautiful to eat!
Clara's included frosting, sprinkles, carrots and broccoli
Megan's had great composition, color balance, and symmetry!
The birthday girl got some dessert too, decorated by Daddy.

oops - Well people always say her face looks like a doll's...

Thanks to all who celebrated with us! As Papa said, Lucy had a great time once she realized all those people were there for her!

We have a crawler!
Very grateful to Lucy for taking care of this before her check up in 2 weeks! Though, we wouldn't have minded if she waited until after Christmas trees, light strands, presents, etc.
Time to put the gate on the stairs!
