Park Trip

Last week we met Birthday Mommas Sara and Shawna and the blonde children (Joey, Megan, Bridget, and Clara) at Frontierland Park in Pacifica. Gma and Gpa C rounded out the group allowing us more adults than children for once! We had a lot of fun and hope to do this more often!

Surf's up in P-town

Gma C babysat Tommy today so I could do my grades and Tom could work on his project. Thanks Gma! Here are the results of her beach photo shoot (on the deck).

I see a future on Baywatch...

Gma emailed these pictures to us and Uncle Mike. Here's the text of the email chain that followed:

Uncle Mike: "Boogie boarders are pretty lame, but I'll cut him some slack...for now."

Meredith: "That's YOUR boogie board lame-o!"

Gma: "Ha!"

Going green

We're giving cloth diapers a try. I've wanted to try them for a while but didn't know where to start. Believe it or not, grandmas, it's not as simple as it used to be. I settled on the bumGenius 3.0 (seriously, that's the name). They go on just like disposables with velcro and elastic but they can be washed and reworn. We'll see how it goes. I've got about a day's worth right now and we'll try those for a while before investing in a whole set. As you can see, they're hanging on our clothesline to dry. Cloth diapers and a clothesline... what year is this? We used them all day today. That's 8 less diapers in the trash. Hopefully our little experiment will be a success in the long run. A dance tradition continues

The stair dance is a great tap tradition started by Bill "Bojangles" Robinson. It continues here with 3rd generation tapper and song-and-dance baby Tommy!

Christening the BBQ

Nana G and Aunt Jen came over yesterday afternoon to occupy Tommy so that we could get some work done. I'm proud to say there are only a couple of boxes left in the living room. CDs (that we have to decide whether to keep or not) and picture frames (that have to be hung at some point!) Tom put the new TV up, now we just have to call DirectTV. The living/dining room is coming together.

I got Tom a bbq for Father's Day/Moving/Graduation, etc and we, well HE, finally assembled it and used it this weekend! It's super awesome (hmm, didn't take any pictures of it). Well, you can see it in action yourself. Anyway, after all that work, Tom worked some more and made delicious skewers, corn on the cob, and garlic bread (thanks Gpa C) on the grill. By the way, if you happen to have a vegan, an Atkins man, a picky eater, and a teething baby coming over to your house for dinner, might I suggest skewers! They even pleased the normal-eating Galvins! I didn't take pictures... sorry Sarah and Jeff.

Here are pics Jen & Carol took of their Occupy Tommy outing yesterday afternoon. This playground is 2 blocks from our house. Not sure if Jen took any pictures of dinner... feel free to post if you did! It was a lovely dinner, thanks Tom!!

One for the baby book

Many of you will remember that in December, Tommy said his first word: "Mom". Well today is another proud milestone... Tommy burped his first word. And I am most proud to report that once again "Mom" was the word of choice. Precious memories.

In other news we live on a really cool block and we enjoyed ourselves at our block party. It was reminicent of the old Court Picnic. There were as many dogs as children and it was a lot of fun; we have very nice neighbors. Now, they're bound to start setting off fireworks soon and it looks like they had quite a few so that's not going to be as fun for Cali. Time to get in the bunker.

Adventures in Quality Parenting

Dad brought this over for Cali to hide in during fireworks. Of course, she's afraid of the crate too. Someone else was not afraid, however.

Sara & Tim - it is quite roomy. If you're still have trouble keeping Joey in his crib... just saying since dog training tricks have worked so well on him so far... just throw some M&Ms inside.
